Free Booklet: The Marital Sexual Act

I’m releasing a lengthy free excerpt from my book Roman Catholic Marital Sexual Ethics, in the form of a downloadable PDF (Adobe Acrobat) file. The booklet is simply Chapter 7 of the book, along with an abbreviated Introduction and the book’s Afterword.

Free Booklet: The Marital Sexual Act [PDF]

This booklet is a concise summary of my theological arguments concerning sexual ethics for married Roman Catholic couples. The book from which it is derived has a more comprehensive treatment of marital sexual ethics. But this free booklet is sufficient as an introduction and overview.

The theological position expressed in this booklet is firmly based on magisterial teaching. Sources cited or quoted in the booklet include:

+ Catechism of the Catholic Church
+ United States Catholic Catechism for Adults
+ Pope Paul VI, Humanae Vitae
+ Second Vatican Council, Lumen Gentium
+ Cardinal Seper, CDF, Persona Humana
+ Pope Leo XIII, Arcanum (On Christian Marriage)
+ Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii
+ Pope John Paul II, Veritatis Splendor
+ Code of Canon Law
+ Second Vatican Council, Gaudium et Spes
+ Council of Trent, Decree on the Sacrament of Matrimony
+ Pope John Paul II, Familiaris Consortio
+ Pontifical Council for the Family, Vademecum [‘Go with me’] for Confessors concerning some Aspects of the Morality of Conjugal Life
+ Pope John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae
+ Saint John Chrysostom, On Marriage and Family Life
+ Saint Jerome, Against Jovinianus
+ Saint Augustine, On the Good of Marriage
+ Saint Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica
as well as many verses quoted from my translation of Sacred Scripture
