Pope Francis is a valid orthodox and holy Pope

The Pope cannot fall into heresy. God absolutely prevents it.

It is not necessary to argue about each teaching of each Pope, and then to judge whether any teaching is heresy or any Pope is a heretic. The Pope is the Rock on which the Church is founded. If any Pope could fall into heresy, that would not be true.

How does God prevent each and every valid Pope from falling into heresy?
By prevenient grace and actual grace. It is analogous to the way that God
prevented the Virgin Mary from falling into sin. She had free will, but she
was entirely unable to sin, due to grace.

  1. Mary says:

What you assert conflicts with the teaching of the Church. Cum ex Apostolatus Officio by Pope Paul IV and the teaching of the Fathers says that it is possible for both a heretic to be elected and for a pope to defect and become a heretic. It is clear that John XXIII and his successors have in fact done that. The fact that Vatican II taught ecumenism and religious liberty which were both condemned by previous popes and contradict Sacred Scripture make that clear and irrefutable. And besides teaching these condemned doctrines, the Vatican instituted modernism, a heresy condemned by Pope St. Pius X, throughout the whole Church with the approval of these characters. St. Robert Bellarmine said: “A pope who is a manifest heretic automatically (per se) ceases ceases to be pope and head, just as he ceases automatically to be a Christian and a member of the Church.” (De Romano Pontifice, II, 30).

    • Ron Conte says:

Pope Paul IV did not teach that a Pope can become a heretic, nor that a heretic can become Pope. He merely made a set of rules concerning heretics and various offices. Since these rules are not teachings, they are subject to the possibility of error. Pope Paul IV was simply mistaken when he thought that a Pope could be a heretic.

Only an antipope can possibly be a heretic; a valid Pope cannot be a heretic because Jesus promised that Peter and his valid successors would be the Rock on which the Church was founded. Heresy is a path to Hell. But the gates of Hell cannot prevail against the Church. Therefore, a Pope cannot be a heretic. All you foolish souls, who think the Pope has fallen into heresy, always ignore the words of Jesus on the subject.

St. Robert Bellarmine considered a hypothetical situation. He also thought that God would never permit any Pope to be a heretic.

As for your claims about Vatican II, you have rejected Christ by rejecting His teachings through the recent Popes and the body of Bishops. How dare you exalt yourself about Popes and Councils and all the faithful Bishops of the world, to judge them, to judge unjustly, and to condemn them. The fact that Vatican II taught ideas which are inconsistent with your own narrow understanding of Catholicism only indicates that you yourself have gone astray into heresy, not the Council and not all the Popes and Bishops who approved Vatican II and continued to teach its teachings. Pride goeth before sin.

Whoever rejects Vatican II, rejects Christ. Whoever rejects any valid Pope, rejects Christ.

      [Galatians 3]
{3:1} O senseless Galatians, who has so fascinated you that you would not obey the truth, even though Jesus Christ has been presented before your eyes, crucified among you?
