My Thoughts on Ordained Women Deacons

I believe that Pope Francis will soon decide the question, as to whether women can be ordained to the diaconate. He might decide the question at the Bishops Synod in October, or perhaps subsequent to the Synod. My own opinion on this open question is that the Church does possess the authority from Christ to ordain women solely to the diaconate. If the Pope teaches the same, there will in all likelihood by a loud outcry from conservatives and traditionalists.

If you would like to remain faithful to Christ and His Church during the schism and the subsequent great apostasy, I strongly recommend frequent humble prayer, self-denial in all things, works of humble merciful service to others, and frequent recourse to Confession and Communion.

One Response to My Thoughts on Ordained Women Deacons

  1. Dot says:

I expect there would be many “women’s lib” types, both young and old, jumping in right off the bat with an attitude of “it’s about time.” Once the novelty wore off, I would hope the position would be filled by mature nuns, widows and grandmothers who could represent the face of the Virgin Mary and be gentle nurturers. I would hope they, as women, might have a distinctive name to indicate the fact that they bring different qualities to the job. I would not like to see them take part in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass: 1 Corinthians 14:34 Women should remain silent in the churches… The role of deacon is pretty limited. I can imagine them being excellent at marriage prep, RCIA, and baptisms.
