Prepare for the Approaching Famine: 2016

Many Catholics today are interested in eschatology. They like to read about the topic, and discuss it online. Buy they do not make any preparations for the End Times. It is as if they know that a thief is planning to break into their house, but they do nothing to prevent him.

[Matthew]
{24:43} But know this: if only the father of the family knew at what hour the thief would arrive, he would certainly keep vigil and not permit his house to be broken into.

If you agree with me that the Tribulation (the End Times, the Apocalypse) is near, why do you decline to prepare? At the very least, you should make every effort to prepare your soul: examine your conscience thoroughly and go to Confession regularly, learn the moral teachings of the Church and make the changes needed in your life to live by them, increase prayer and self-denial and works of mercy, and read the Bible. Otherwise, you will be caught off-guard when the Warning strikes every conscience on earth:

{24:48} But if that evil servant has said in his heart, ‘My lord has been delayed in returning,’
{24:49} and so, he begins to strike his fellow servants, and he eats and drinks with the inebriated:
{24:50} then the lord of that servant will arrive on a day that he does not expect, and at an hour that he does not know.
{24:51} And he shall separate him, and he shall place his portion with the hypocrites, where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

You do not know at what hour Jesus will return. But you also do not know on which day you will die. You might die in reaction to seeing your sins at the Warning, or you might die from one of the many afflictions that fall upon the world during the tribulation that follows. Prepare your soul.

Prudence also suggests that we make some modest preparations for the body, while not ignoring the needs of the soul. People should begin to store food, so that they can still feed their family when the tribulation and the great famine begins.

In my speculative eschatology, I am predicting that a great famine in wealthy nations will begin in late 2016. It would be prudent to being preparations now, and to store up at least one months’ worth of food, preferably 3 months’ worth. Detailed recommendations on which foods to store are found in my book:
Apocalypse Survival Guide for Christians

You have been warned in advance. It is your own fault if you are caught unaware when the tribulation begins.

[Matthew 25]
{25:1} “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be like ten virgins, who, taking their lamps, went out to meet the groom and the bride.
{25:2} But five of them were foolish, and five were prudent.
{25:3} For the five foolish, having brought their lamps, did not take oil with them.
{25:4} Yet truly, the prudent ones brought the oil, in their containers, with the lamps.
{25:5} Since the bridegroom was delayed, they all fell asleep, and they were sleeping.
{25:6} But in the middle of the night, a cry went out: ‘Behold, the groom is arriving. Go out to meet him.’
{25:7} Then all those virgins rose up and trimmed their lamps.
{25:8} But the foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give to us from your oil, for our lamps are being extinguished.’
{25:9} The prudent responded by saying, ‘Lest perhaps there may not be enough for us and for you, it would be better for you to go to the vendors and buy some for yourselves.’
{25:10} But while they were going to buy it, the groom arrived. And those who were prepared entered with him to the wedding, and the door was closed.
{25:11} Yet truly, at the very end, the remaining virgins also arrived, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
{25:12} But he responded by saying, ‘Amen I say to you, I do not know you.’
{25:13} And so you must be vigilant, because you do not know the day or the hour.

  1. Antoinette says:

Does the false prophet come in the end times

    • Ron Conte says:

The end times are divided into two parts: the first part for our generation, and the second part for the 25th century A.D. The Antichrist and the false prophet do not arrive until the second part of the tribulation. So they are not in the world today.

  2. Matt says:

It is hard for me to imagine daily life during the upcoming Tribulations. The visionaries of Medjugorje have stated that those that have converted do not need to worry about the future. However, when famine, civil unrest, and diseases hit large cities, I see my family hunkered down at home, and then what?. What about my day job? What about the children and school? Doctor’s appointments? Basic infrastructure maintenance, water, sewer, gas, and electric? Do I buy a gun? Truly, the future seems quite frightening based on messages to Pedro Regis, but I still can not reconcile the fact that those that are converted do not need to worry.

    • Ron Conte says:

Everyone who truly loves God and neighbor, who has truly converted to God, can trust God to help them through these sufferings. But everyone will suffer a great deal, the good and the bad. I suppose good people will still worry. We don’t need to worry, since we can trust in prayer and faith. But great afflictions will strike everyone. Mary at La Salette:
      4. ‘Woe to the inhabitants of the earth! God is going to exhaust His wrath, and no one will be able to take himself away from so many afflictions combined.’
      6. ‘Society is on the eve of the most terrible scourges and of the greatest events; one must expect to be ruled with an iron rod and to drink the chalice of the wrath of God.’
